Removal and Replacement Procedures
Remove/Replace Memory Modules
The memory modules are located on the Processor/Memory card. Be sure to observe all memory
configuration rules as described in Chapter 2, Memory Configuration Rules.
Remove Memory Modules
For memory location identification, refer to the label on the inside of the side door panel, or Chapter 2,
Memory Configuration Rules .
1. Set the processor/memory card on an ESD mat on a flat surface.
2. Push down on the memory module extractor lever to unseat the memory module.
3. Grasp the memory card on the top and bottom edge and pull it out of the connector.
Replace Memory Modules
Refer to Chapter 2, Memory Configuration Rules for all HP D Class systems memory module load
order.
1. Carefully align the memory card in the appropriate memory connector.
1. Each memory module card has its size marked on the memory card near the upper left corner
(16MB, 32MB, 64MB, 128MB or 256MB).
2. The white stripe on the end of the memory card identifies the end of the card that must be
toward the
white
ejector lever of the connector on the Processor/Memory card.
3. The notch at the lower left corner of the memory card also indicates the end of the card that
must go toward the
white
ejector lever on the Processor/Memory card.
2. Press firmly into place (be sure the extractor levers are up against the SIMM cards).
3. Be sure the SIMM card is fully seated before re-installing the Processor/Memory card and turning
the computer on.
