Troubleshooting
Table 3-5 System Hardware Troubleshooting With Chassis Codes
Symptom Cause Action
Chassis code 1xxx CPU, TLB, Coprocessor, or MFIOC
1. Replace Processor/Memory Card.
2. If the problem persists, call the
Response Center.
Chassis code 2xxx For Dx20
and Dx30: 21xx
Cache errors. 2nd level cache
errors.
1. Replace Processor/Memory Card.
2. For Dx20 and Dx30, replace
appropriate 2nd level cache card.
3. If the problem persists, call the
Response Center.
Chassis code 3xxx (except
30FF)
Processor Dependent Hardware
(PDH).
1. Replace Processor/Memory Card.
2. Replace System/Core I/O Card.
3. If the problem persists, call the
Response Center.
Chassis code 30FF Fan or hotswap blower failure.
Power supply fan not included.
NOTE: DC voltages will be turned
off.
1. Check for fan rotation.
2. Check fan cable connections.
3. Replace fan.
4. If the problem persists, call the
Response Center.
Chassis code 4xxx Late Selftests errors.
1. Replace Processor/Memory Card.
2. If the problem persists, call the
Response Center.
Chassis code 5xxx For Dx50
5007 or 500D
Bus Transactions errors. HSC bus
error (or HP-PB on AP card).
1. Replace system/Core I/O card.
2. Replace I/O cards on GSC.
3. Replace Processor/Memory card.
4. For D250/D350 replace the AP
card.
5. If the problem persists, call the
Response Center.
Chassis code 7xxx Memory Subsystem Fault.
1. Refer to the appropriate Table
(3-6, 3-7, or 3-8) for fault
definition and action.
2. Reference the appropriate
Chapter for more detail.
3. If the problem persists, call the
Response Center.
