4. Using an application such as PuTTY on the administrative computer, establish an SSH connection to
the remote management processor on storage controller 2 at IP address 172.16.253.204.
For the username, enter admin.
For the password, enter the storage controller serial number (as recorded in
Gathering controller
module information).
5. To complete the initial login, you must reset the password.
When prompted for the IAP password, re-enter the controller serial number.
Enter and confirm the new password as requested.
Make a note of the password in a secure manner for future reference.
6. At the haLO[2] command prompt, enter the following commands:
a. set ipv4 0.0.0.0 netmask 0.0.0.0
b. reset halo
The SSH session terminates as soon as the new settings take effect.
NOTE:
The remote management processor might become unresponsive, causing SSH timeouts. If timeouts
occur, power cycle both storage controllers with the MGMT ports disconnected, except for the
administrative computer. Power cycling takes all volumes offline and should be done during a
planned maintenance window.
1. Stop all I/O to the system.
2. Remove the power cords from both power supplies.
3. Wait 30 seconds after all LEDs clear.
4. Reconnect both power cords.
5. Re-establish the SSH session.
Connecting the MGMT port to Ethernet switches
Procedure
1. Disconnect the administrative computer from any MGMT ports.
2. Connect both MGMT ports to the Ethernet network on the same subnet.
For high availability, Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends connecting the MGMT ports to different
Ethernet switches.
