Printing
Continuous motion printing (Figure D-2) is used for printing on moving
packaging films in packaging equipment that has a continuous moving
action each time a product is packed. Such applications can be found in
Continuous VFFS and Horizontal Form Fill Seal (HFFS) or flow-wrap
machines.
Continuous motion printing has the following features:
•
The substrate (item 3, Figure D-2) moves while the printhead (item 4)
is stationary.
•
Speed of the substrate is monitored by an encoder.
•
The ribbon and the substrate speeds are matched by the ribbon drive.
•
The printhead pushes the substrate against a rotating print roller
(item 2).
