Ä Push [BAND] to select the desired band, if nec-

pocket beep ON.
• Turn OFF the pager or code squelch to activate the

be used with the pager or code squelch.

the transceiver emits beep tones for 30 sec.

the beeps and flashing.
• Tone squelch is automatically selected.

D Waiting for a call from a specific station
A subaudible tone matched with the stations frequency is
necessary. Use the tone squelch on the next page or a sub-
audible tone encoder (p. 29).
■Pocket beep operation
This function uses subaudible tones for calling and can be
used as a “common pager” to inform you that someone has
called while you were away from the transceiver.
To operate the pocket beep function, an optional UT-104 is
necessary. See p. 65 for installation details.

➀ Push the desired band’s tuning dial.
➁ Set the operating frequency.
➂ Program the subaudible tone frequency in set mode.

➃ Push [(DTMF)T] for 1 sec., 2 times to indicate “T SQLS”
in the function display.
• Turn OFF the pager or code squelch to activate the pocket beep.
(pgs. 59, 62) The pocket beep cannot be used in combination
with the pager or code squelch.
➄ When a signal with the correct tone is received, the trans-
ceiver emits beep tones and flashes “S”.
• Beep tones sound for 30 sec. To stop the beeps manually, push
the tuning dial (or any key).
•“S” flashes coninuously until step ➅ or ➆.
• When receiving another call while “S” is flashing, no beeps sound.
➅ Push [PTT] to answer.
• Tone squelch is automatically selected when transmitting.
➆ Push [(DTMF)T] for 1 sec. once or twice to cancel the function.
