Ä Push [BAND] to select the desired band, if nec-
essary.
Å Set the desired frequency to be checked for a
tone frequency e.g. repeater input frequency.
Ç Push [FUNC] then [➈T SQL] to turn the tone
squelch ON.
É Push [➁SCAN] to start the tone scan.
Ñ When the tone frequency is matched, the
squelch opens and the tone frequency is pro-
grammed into the selected mode such as VFO,
memory/call channel or scratch pad memory.
Ö Push [ECLR] to stop the scan.
Ü Push [FUNC] then [GT-OFF] to deactivate the
tone squelch or push [FUNC] then [➆TONE] to
activate the tone encoder with the detected
tone frequency.
NOTE: The decoded tone frequency is programmed tem-
porarily when a memory or call channel is selected.
However, this will be cleared when overwriting the mem-
ory/call channel.
■ Tone scan
By monitoring a signal that is being transmitted on a repeater
input frequency, you can determine the tone frequency nec-
essary to open a repeater.
An optional UT-104 is required to activate the tone scan.
➀ Push the desired band’s tuning dial.
➁ Set the desired frequency to be checked for a tone fre-
quency e.g. repeater input frequency.
➂ Push [(DTMF)T] for 1 sec., 3 times to display “T SQL.”
➃ Push [(V/MHz)SCAN] for 1 sec. to start the tone scan.
• To change the scanning direction, rotate the selected band’s tun-
ing dial.
➄ When the tone frequency is matched, the squelch opens
and the tone frequency is programmed into the selected
mode such as VFO, memory/call channel or scratch pad
memory.
➅ Push [(V/MHz)SCAN] to stop the scan.
➆ Push [(DTMF)T] for 1 sec. to deactivate the tone squelch or
twice to activate the tone encoder with the detected tone
frequency.
