What to do if Icom Transceiver frequency display isn't changing?
    • J
      Jessica YoungAug 20, 2025
If the displayed frequency on your Icom Transceiver is not changing properly, it could be due to a few reasons. Check if the dial lock function is activated and, if so, push [LOCK] to turn the function OFF. Also, ensure that you are not on a Set mode screen; push [EXIT/SET] several times to exit the Set mode screen. In some cases, the internal CPU may have malfunctioned, requiring you to reset the CPU.

What to do if no sound from Icom Transceiver speaker?
    • T
      timothyhuntAug 22, 2025
If you cannot hear any sound from the Icom Transceiver speaker, there are a few potential causes. First, the volume level might be too low, so rotate the [AF] control clockwise to increase the listening level. Second, the squelch might be closed; turn the [SQL] control to the 10 o’clock position to open it. Finally, the transceiver might be transmitting; push [TRANSMIT] to receive, or check the SEND line of an external unit if one is connected.

How to fix Icom Transceiver when power does not come on?
    • E
      Erin CampbellAug 25, 2025
If your Icom Transceiver does not power on when you push the power key, it could be due to a few reasons. Check that the AC power cable is correctly connected. Ensure that the internal power supply is turned ON. Also, verify that the circuit breaker hasn't tripped; if it has, identify the cause and reset it.

Why is the output power too low on my Icom Transceiver?
    • T
      tinasmithAug 26, 2025
If the output power of your Icom Transceiver is too low, several factors could be the cause. Make sure that the [RF PWR], [DRIVE], and [MIC] controls are not set too far counterclockwise; adjust them clockwise to increase the power. Also, ensure you have selected an antenna suitable for the operating frequency and that the antenna is properly tuned by holding down [TUNER] for 1 second to manually tune the antenna.

How to improve sensitivity on Icom Transceiver?
    • M
      Mark WilsonAug 28, 2025
If the sensitivity of your Icom Transceiver is too low, and only strong signals are audible, there are a few things to check. Ensure the antenna is properly connected to the antenna connector and that you've selected an antenna suitable for the operating frequency. Also, try manually tuning the antenna by holding down [TUNER] for 1 second. Lastly, make sure the attenuator is turned off by pushing [ATT] several times until “ATT OFF” is displayed.

What causes unclear audio on Icom Transceiver?
    • W
      William WrightAug 30, 2025
If the received audio on your Icom Transceiver is unclear or distorted, several factors could be responsible. First, ensure that a suitable operating mode is selected. If the PBT function is activated, hold down [PBT CLR] for 1 second to reset it. If the noise blanker is on while receiving a strong signal, push [NB] to turn it OFF. Check if a preamp is activated and, if so, push [P.AMP] once or twice to turn the function OFF. Finally, adjust the [NR] control for maximum readability, especially if noise reduction is activated.
