Handling Documents
Inserting and Removing Documents
2-6 NCR iTRAN 180es/300es/600 Operator’s Guide
2 Check for dog-ears on the bottom lead edge by fanning the documents.
Remove these as they may cause track interrupts.
3 Fan the documents, from both sides, to be sure they do not stick to one
another.
4 Jog the documents before placing in the hopper. Turn the jogger on its
highest setting for about 20 seconds.
5 Take hold of the documents to be loaded into the hopper in one hand
such that your thumb is on the first document. Push the hopper weight
back with the same hand. Use your other hand to support any
documents already in the tray. Keep a steady pressure on documents
already in the tray, but do not push too hard, or misfeeds or
doublefeeds may occur. (Be careful not to pull up on documents
already in the tray.)
Note: Do not fill the hopper over 2/3 full.
6 Make sure that all the documents are right-side-up and facing toward
you.
7 Place the documents into the tray in a vertical manner ensuring that
they do not lean forward. IF THE DOCUMENTS ARE LOADED
INTO THE TRAY LEANING FORWARD, MISFEEDS MAY
RESULT. The lead edge of the documents should be against the right
wall of the tray.
8 Allow the weight to move back against the rear side of the documents
by gently removing your hand.
One Method
2
The following method of loading documents generally works quite well. You
can do this while the hopper is already feeding - just be sure to hold the
remaining documents against the track with enough pressure to allow the
hopper to feed. Too much pressure will cause double-feeds.
1 Hold the stack of new documents, and with the same hand, move the
weight back.
2 Put the new stack of documents into the track so that the top of the
stack is angled back and all the documents are resting in the tray.
3 Move the new stack and the weight forward so that the documents
touch.
4 Allow the weight to straighten all the documents.
