Merge Hopper

To load a stack of documents into the merge hopper, follow these steps.
1 Fan the documents (all edges). If this is a new set of documents, fan
them to separate them from each other.
If this is a used set, check for dog-ears on the bottom lead edge as you
fan. Remove these documents, since they may cause track interrupts.
2 Jog the documents using a mechanical jogger.
3 Ensure that you have aligned the bottom edge and the lead edge of the
documents to be loaded into the hopper (your supervisor will show you
the lead edge).
4 Put the documents in behind any that are there (push the hopper paddle
away with your hand).
5 Make sure that all the documents are right-side up and facing towards
the main hopper (the fronts of the documents usually have a code line
on them).
6 Make sure the documents are forward in the tray (as close to the track
as they can be). If they are too far towards the back of the transport,
they may not feed properly.
7 Allow the paddle to move back against the documents.
