1 DESCRIPTION

There is no P (Park) position. The Allison transmission has an additional
forward gear.
The gear shift control is linked to the transmission by a cable. The
transmission is cooled by hydraulic uid circulated through a heat exchanger
attached to the engine radiator.
1.4.7 Torque Converter
The torque converter is attached to the crankshaft with a exible plate in
between. Cooling is by circulating transmission uid through the transmission
heat exchanger.
1.4.8 Lubrication System
An oil pump draws oil through a strainer in the oil pan and circulates the oil
through the engine. Before entering the engine, all the oil from the pump
passes through the oil lter. Surplus oil drains back into the pan. Engine oil
pressure is maintained by a spring-loaded pressure-relief valve in the oil
pump.
The screw-on oil lter is mounted on the oil pump (or auxiliary cooler where
provided). If the element becomes clogged, a relief valve in the lter permits
oil to bypass the lter.
Engine oil ows through the oil cooler cavity to be cooled by coolant which
ows through plates inside the oil cooler.
1.4.9 Fuel System
Gas and Diesel Models
The fuel riser pump brings fuel from the fuel tank and delivers it to the throttle
body or injection pump. LPG fuel systems do not use a fuel pump.
LPG Models (Liquid Petroleum Gas)
Main System components are:
• LPG Tank
• Fuel Lock-O Valve
• Vaporizer/Regulator (”converter”)
• Throttle Body
