K 2-8 Choosing a Shooting Mode
Choosing an Aperture (
A
: Aperture-Priority AE)
In this mode, you choose the aperture (f/-number) and the camera automatically
sets the shutter speed for optimal exposure according to subject brightness. Lower
aperture values (larger apertures) reduce the depth of the area that appears to be
in focus (depth of eld), blurring the background. Higher aperture values (smaller
apertures) increase the depth of the area that appears to be in focus in front of and
behind the subject.
