FM MENU RDS
loudness as with other processors. However, excessive RDS injection will still aggravate multipath issue due to high
amplitude at very high frequencies in the composite signal.
The RDS Mode drop-down menu allows you to choose from several different RDS options.
When set to Off, RDS is turned off completely. If you want to insert RDS after the Omnia.9 in the chain, this is the mode to use.
The External Input 1 and External Input 2 modes determine which of Omnia.9 MPX inputs are active for RDS input when
using an external encoder. Omnia.9 has build in RDS confidence decoders, available in the display settings under RDS Decoder,
which allow you to display the decoded RDS data from both external MPX inputs separately, regardless of whether they are
selected here.
In the Internal mode, Omnia.9’s built-in RDS encoder is active.
The Program Identification field must contain a 4-digit hexadecimal PI code, and must be unique to your station. If
another station uses the same PI code, the preset buttons in car radios will get confused and sometimes tune in your
competition instead of your station when the listener pushes the preset button! PI codes are usually assigned by the
respective frequency/telecommunications authority in each country. In the United States and Canada (RBDS), PI codes
are calculated from the call sign. There is a convenient calculator online: http://www.w9wi.com/articles/rdsreverse.ht
Using Omnia.9s Built-In RDS Encoder

is handled within Omnia.9 itself:
