Note: Your "extended bolus" setting determines whether the screen displays
percent (%) or units (U). If the extended bolus option is o, the "Extend" so
key label does not appear on the screen.
7. If the BG reminder option is turned on and you want a reminder to check
your blood glucose, press Yes. Use the Up/Down button to enter the time for
the reminder. Press OK.
See "BG reminders" on page 77 to turn on or o the BG reminder. It is o by
default.
8. Review the details of the bolus and press Conrm to begin the bolus delivery.
At this point, the bolus amount is stored in your history records.
e screen displays a Delivering bolus message throughout the delivery of an
immediate bolus.
Tip: Once a bolus is started, the Pod nishes delivering the bolus whether or not it is
in range of the PDM.
During the extended portion of a bolus, check the Status screen to see how much
of the extended bolus remains to be delivered. You can use your PDM for other
tasks during the extended portion of a bolus.
To add an informational tag to the BG value used for this bolus, see "Tagging the
Blood Glucose Results" on page 45.
Altering an Ongoing Bolus
You can cancel an immediate or extended bolus, deliver an immediate bolus
without canceling an ongoing extended bolus, or replace one extended bolus with
a new extended bolus.
Note: You can give a new (immediate) bolus during an extended bolus without
canceling the extended bolus. However, if you want to extend the new bolus, you
must cancel the current extended bolus.
Note: If you get a communication error message when you attempt to cancel a
bolus, see "Failure when canceling a bolus" on page 104.
