How to check the specic
gravity of the coolant
For mixtures which contain inhibited
ethylene glycol:
1. Operate the engine until it is warm
enough to open the thermostat. Continue
to run the engine until the coolant has
circulated through the cooling system.
2. Stop the engine.
3. Allow the engine to cool until the
temperature of the coolant is below 140
°F (60 °C).
Warning! Do not drain the coolant while
the engine is still hot and the system is
under pressure because dangerous hot
coolant can be discharged.
4. Remove the ller cap of the cooling
system.
5. Drain some coolant from the cooling
system into a suitable container.
6. Use a special coolant hydrometer
that will check the temperature and the
specic gravity of the coolant, follow the
manufacturer’s instructions.
Note: If a special coolant hydrometer is
not available, put a hydrometer and a
separate thermometer into the antifreeze
mixture and check the readings on both
instruments. Compare the readings with
the chart (A).

A = Percentage antifreeze by volume
B = Mixture temperature in Fahrenheit
C = Specic gravity
D = Mixture temperature in Celsius

Voor mengsels met ethyleenglycol met
inhibitoren:
1. Laat de motor draaien tot deze
zo warm is dat de thermostaat wordt
geopend. Laat de motor draaien tot de
koelvloeistof door het hele koelcircuit
circuleert.
2. Zet de motor stop.
3. Laat de motor afkoelen tot de
temperatuur van de koelvloeistof lager is
dan 60 °C.
Waarschuwing! Tap de koelvloeistof
niet af wanneer de motor nog heet is
en het systeem onder druk staat omdat
dan gevaarlijke, hete koelvloeistof kan
vrijkomen.
4. Verwijder de vuldop van het
koelvloeistofsysteem.
5. Tap wat koelvloeistof af uit het
koelsysteem en laat het in een geschikte
opvangbak lopen.
6. Maak gebruik van een speciale
koelvloeistofhydrometer die de
temperatuur controleert en de specieke
dichtheid van de koelvloeistof; volg de
instructies van de fabrikant.
Opmerking: Wanneer geen speciale
koelvloeistofhydrometer beschikbaar is,
plaats dan een hydrometer en een aparte
thermometer in het antivriesmengsel en
lees beide meetinstrumenten af. Vergelijk
de verkregen waarden met de waarden in
de graek (A).

ðÝóåé êÜôù áðü ôïõò 60 °C.
Ðñïåéäïðïßçóç! Ìçí áðïóôñáããßæåôå
ôï øõêôéêü åíþ ï êéíçôÞñáò åßíáé áêüìç
æåóôüò êáé ôï óýóôçìá âñßóêåôáé õðü
ðßåóç, ãéáôß ìðïñåß íá åêëõèåß åðéêßíäõíï
æåóôü øõêôéêü.
4. ÁöáéñÝóôå ôçí ôÜðá ôïõ óõóôÞìáôïò
øýîçò.
5. Áðïóôñáããßóôå ìåñéêü øõêôéêü áðü ôï
óýóôçìá øýîçò ìÝóá óå êáôÜëëçëï äï÷åßï.
6. ×ñçóéìïðïéÞóôå åéäéêü õäñüìåôñï ãéá
øõêôéêü ðïõ åëÝã÷åé ôç èåñìïêñáóßá êáé ôï
åéäéêü âÜñïò ôïõ øõêôéêïý. ÁêïëïõèÞóôå
ôéò ïäçãßåò ôïõ êáôáóêåõáóôÞ.
Óçìåßùóç: Áí äåí Ý÷åôå åéäéêü õäñüìåôñï
ãéá øõêôéêü, ôïðïèåôÞóôå Ýíá õäñüìåôñï
êáé Ýíá îå÷ùñéóôü èåñìüìåôñï ìÝóá
óôï ìåßãìá áíôéðçêôéêïý êáé åëÝãîôå ôéò
åíäåßîåéò êáé óôá äýï üñãáíá. Óõãêñßíåôå
ôéò åíäåßîåéò ìå ôï äéÜãñáììá (A).
