5.4 Kinematic Model
The kinematic model maps the kinematic conditions in a machine train. VIBSCANNER 2
uses this modeling to calculate the rotational speed at every measurement location on
the machine train based on a reference value. This method saves time and effort, as it re-
duces the number of measurements on site to a minimum.
A machine train is modeled during the configuration in the OMNITREND Center software.
The gear ratios between the individual components (e.g., gear stages) are considered.
5.4.1 Reference speed
The speed calculation is based on the reference speed. It is recorded and/or determined
at a reference measurement location on the machine train. Based on the known kin-
ematic conditions in the machine train, the measuring device calculates the respective
speeds for all measurement locations on the machine train.
Reference speed from vibration signal
VIBSCANNER 2 determines the reference speed from the vibration signal ("Machine speed
finder" on page 87). During route configuration in OMNITREND Center, the measurement
location for the reference speed is combined with the nearest vibration measurement loc-
ation. The reference measurement location is marked in the machine image view with
("2: Measurement location icon" on page 37).
Determining the reference speed by stroboscope
The integrated stroboscope is a reliable method for verifying the determined reference
speed and for recording the speeds at all vibration measurement locations on the ma-
chines.
Entering the reference speed manually
If the reference speed cannot be determined using the mentioned methods, the value
can be entered manually.
