CAUTION
When installing the capillary column to the dual FID, supplying makeup gas from the dual packed INJ using the
detector side adaptor (with purge) shown above may have an adverse effect on analysis, such as an increase
in noise due to the effects of organic substances from the graphite ferrule or due to contamination inside the
INJ, and prevent the system from fulfilling its specifications.
Although specifications will not be fulfilled, ALWAYS perform the following conditioning before installing the
detector side adaptor (with purge) in order to reduce the amount of noise etc. as much as possible.
1. Perform conditioning over one day and night by setting the temperature for the dual packed INJ to approx.
300
C and circulating gas (the gas used for makeup) at approx. 10 mL.
Make sure that the column mounting port is left open on the dual packed INJ during conditioning.
2. Condition the graphite ferrule using a gas burner.
(Same as method described in "4.7 Graphite ferrule" P.94.)
