SUPPLEMENTARY OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS | VMS4100/5100
Subject to change without notice
3.4.2 “Singulated” operating mode with additional “Touching/Side-by-Side”, “Singulation verification” (SIV)
function
Fig. 13: 3.4.2. “Singulated” operating mode with additional “Singulation verification” (SIV) function
The Singulated operating mode on the VMS4100 / VMS5100 can be enhanced by
the additional Singulation verification (SIV) function.
Triggered mode is recommended. Free-running mode is also a possible option.
The multi-dimensional measurement system quantifies the objects in the measuring
range.
If there are several objects in the measuring range, the VMS4100/5100 outputs
the number of detected objects as control information.
The detected dimensional values can be output if desired. On the VMS5100, these
values are labeled as Non-LFT.
If the next object is singular, it will then once again be normally dimensioned in
Singulated mode.
The number of detectable objects in the measuring field is unlimited. It must be
possible to distinguish between the contour of the objects.
Singulation verification applies to cubic and irregular objects.
NOTE! Due to shadowing, the objects should be as centered as possible on the conveyor
belt when they pass underneath the measuring station. Otherwise, singulation verification
may not function properly.
