M90 Fusion Splicer 4-22 Operating Instructions
Splicing Issue 02/97
Tensile Test
Tensile force
The splicer allows the user to check the splice for tensile strength.
Activating the
tension test
The tensile test can be switched on and off in each program group except "Attenuation
splice" (see section 3).
The program sequences with the tensile test switched on and switched off are shown
below.

Tension test in process
Tension test passed
or
Tensile test failed
Test results with
tension test acti-
vated
- "Test passed" if test result positive
- "Tension test passed" if test result negative
- "Test ended" if fibers not LID-compatible
Note
For the tensile test, it is essential, even in the video programs, for the fiber to be in-
serted into the LID system straight through (without looping between the LID flap and
holder flap) and for all flaps to be closed.
If you have left a loop between the LID and holder flaps (in the case of depressed inner
cladding fibers), insert the fibers into the LID system without loop before performing the
tension test.
