General
Note
To maintain the precision of your splicer, it is important to provide it with regular care
and maintenance.
Regular cleaning Keep the splicer clean.
Clean at the end of every working day and more often if required:
- LID system.
- Fiber guides.
- Electrodes.
- Cleaver.
Regularly charge splicers with battery!
Warning
Do not use chemical solvents!
Cleaning the
mirrors and op-
tical lenses
The mirrors and optical lenses in the splicer must be kept clean to ensure the splicer
functions properly:
- Switch off the splicer.
- Open the electrode flap and loosen the bolts (1) approx. half a turn using a hexagon
socket head wrench, size 2.5. Remove the electrodes.
- Open both holder flaps, rotate the eccentric clamp (2) through 180° using a hexagon
socket head wrench, size 1.5, and then remove the fiber guides.
- Carefully clean the mirror and the two lenses using an optics leather cloth.
- Install the fiber guides and electrodes again. Ensure they are clean!
Location of the Electrodes and the Optical Parts to be Cleaned
Caution
Reinstall and tighten the electrode.
Performing fusion without electrodes in place will damage the splicer!
