Braking with regenerative feedback to the line
Typical applications for braking with energy recovery (regenerative feedback into the line
supply):
● Hoist drives
● Centrifuges
● Unwinders
For these applications, the motor must brake for longer periods of time.
The inverter can feed back up to 100% of its power into the line supply (referred to "High
Overload" base load, see Section Technical data (Page 219)).
Setting the braking with regenerative feedback to the line
Limiting the regenerative feedback for U/f control (p1300 < 20)
p0640
Motor series overload factor
(factory setting: 0.00 A, default for basic commissioning)
It is only possible to limit the regenerative power with V/f control by limiting the motor
current.
If the current exceeds this value for longer than 10 s, the inverter shuts down the motor
Limiting feedback with vector control (p1300 ≥ 20)
Regenerative power limit (factory setting: 0.01 kW)
The motor holding brake prevents the motor turning when it is switched off. The converter
has internal logic to optimally control a motor holding brake.
Danger to life when touching live parts in the motor terminal box
The connections for the temperature sensor and the motor holding brake are switched to
the minus potential of the DC link. Touching live components can result in death or severe
injury.
• Always keep the motor terminal box closed when line voltage is applied to the converter.
• Isolate unused cables individually.
