Note: Hospital medical gas pipeline systems conforming ISO 7396 operate
between 2.8 to 6 bar. The SLE5000 ventilator can operate throughout this
range, but requires adjustment for operation with a medical gas pipeline
system that operates between 2.8 to 3.3 bar.
Operating an SLE5000 ventilator set for 3.3 to 6 bar operation at 2.8 to 3.2
bar input pressures, causes the No Gas, No Air and No Oxygen alarms to be
triggered continually.
SLE5000 ventilators are setup and calibrated using 4 bar input supplies.
Please select according to the hospital medical gas pipeline pressure,
either section 17.3.1 for 2.8 to 3.2 bar or 17.3.2 for 3.3 to 6 bar operation.
17.3.1 2.8 to 3.2 bar operation.
a) Connect the ventilator to gas supplies at 2.8 to 3.3 bar.
b) Set the oxygen regulator PR2 to 36 psi ± 0.1 psi. Tighten the tension nut to
lock the spindle in position ensure that the pressure is still within 0.1 psi of 36.
(The oxygen regulator will not be adjusted again) (Test point 1). Set the Air
regulator PR1 to match the first setting within 0.1 psi (Test point 2).
Advance to step e).
17.3.2 3.3 to 6 bar operation
Note: SLE4000 ventilators are setup and calibrated using gas supplies at 4
bar. Where possible please use 4 bar.
c) Connect the ventilator to gas supplies at 3.3 to 6 bar.
d) Set the oxygen regulator PR2 to 40 psi ± 0.1 psi. Tighten the tension nut to
lock the spindle in position ensure that the pressure is still within 0.1 psi of 40.
(The oxygen regulator will not be adjusted again) (Test point 1). Set the Air
regulator PR1 to match the first setting within 0.1 psi (Test point 2).
e) Disconnect the fresh gas supply tube from the tee connector to PR5 (Test
point 3). Connect the tube to the flow analyser. Occlude PRV1. With (SV7)
energised (ventilator turned on) monitor the fresh gas pressure output and
adjust output of regulator (PR5) to 30psi ± 1psi.
f) Turn on the ventilator to energise
SV7. With the fresh gas valve SV7
energised, monitor the flow from the
fresh gas outlet port on the front
panel, and adjust the needle valve
FR1 to give a flow at this port of 8LPM
± 0.25LPM.
