9.8 Troubleshooting chart, ignition system
Engine does not run
Stop switch:
– In position "#"?
Check spark plug:
– Smeared with oil, black?
– Sooted?
– Electrode gap OK?
– Contacts shorted (threads)?
– Clean, adjust or replace
spark plug,

Check spark plug boot:
– Firmly seated on spark plug (leg spring)?
– Leg spring hook in centre of ignition lead?
– Spark plug boot damaged?
– Replace spark plug boot and/or leg spring if
necessary,

Test ignition system:
with ZAT 3 or ZAT 4
(use ZAT 3 as main spark gap,
see TI 32.94),
