– Use STIHL Press Fluid for easier
insertion, b 17.
: Press stop buffer (1) home until
the groove (arrow) completely
encloses the ridge (2) and the
peg (3) of the tank housing
engages the hole in the stop
buffer.
Stop buffer on ignition side
– Remove ignition module,
b 9.1.1.
: Prise out stop buffer (1).
– Examine stop buffer and replace
if necessary.

– Position stop buffer (1) with the
tapered side facing the
crankcase.
: Press stop buffer (1) home until
the peg (2) of the tank housing
engages the hole in the stop
buffer.

– Install ignition module, b 9.1.1.
Machines with handle heating
– Ensure accurate routing of the
generator lead, b 15.7.
– Reassemble all other parts in the
reverse sequence.
– Tightening torques, b 3.5.
– Remove chain sprocket cover,
bar and chain, b 5.
– Remove shroud, b 8.4.
– Remove anti-vibration spring on
front handle, b 11.2.
: Take out screws (arrows)
underneath machine.
