Strasbaugh Mechanical Maintenance Procedures
Version 1.2 - April 18, 1996 7 - 29
After any screw adjustments are made the new reference
position must be established by allowing the elevator to travel
down off the switch and return to the reference position. Since
the set screw is a 20 pitch thread each screw revolution
corresponds to a 0.050" travel adjustment. The adjustment
increment by this method is one lobe count or 0.062". If finer
adjustment is required the orientation of the encoder on the
screw can be changed by loosening the encoder set screw and
rotating the encoder on the screw. This provides essentially
infinite resolution for platform height adjustment.
For receive elevator adjustment it is best to use actual
operating conditions by allowing the elevator to travel to the
bottom cassette slot to measure platform height adjustment.
This is also simplified since the platforms will lower
automatically once a cassette is placed on the platform.
For send elevators it is also best to make adjustments using
actual operating conditions. However, the send elevator will
only operate during an auto cycle. Thus it is necessary to start
and stop an auto cycle repeatedly while making send elevator
adjustments. In order to avoid this situation a contact may be
used to disable the normal control software to facilitate send
elevator adjustment. This requires some knowledge of the
programmable control diagnostics software which is outside the
scope of this manual.
To accommodate send elevator adjustment set contact 9255.
With contact 9255 set send elevator 1 will lower to the next slot
location if a cassette is in place and the "A" key on the operator
keypad is pressed. Send elevator 2 will operate similarly when
the "B" key is pressed. Once elevator adjustment is complete
contact 9255 must be reset to resume normal machine
operation.
