STEP 2 - MACHINE INITIALIZATION
Machine initialization is a self-contained routine designed to
perform machine calibration with minimal operator intervention.
The initialization routine performs three basic functions: 1) find
home position for work chuck, 2) find position of coarse grinding
wheel, and 3) find position of finish grinding wheel.
The machine control "learns" these positions and keeps track of all
subsequent moves electronically. The machine loses this position
data if machine power is turned off. Therefore, machine
initialization is required following power-up in order to perform a
grind cycle. Also, if any manual jog functions are performed before
machine initialization the position data is meaningless and should
be ignored.
To display the machine operation menu, press the reset key. With
the machine operation menu displayed, turn the key switch to
"auto" and press the "2" key. This will display the "initialize
machine" menu.
The display will read:
place cassette with test wafer
on send elevator
place empty cassette
on receive elevator
Cassettes can be placed on either send or receive elevator. Once
both cassettes are in place the display will read:
close covers then press [start]
Verify that the wafer transport cover and both elevator access
doors are closed. Upon pushing the start key the machine
initialization sequence will begin.
