Strasbaugh Introduction
Version 1.2 - April 18, 1996; Update 11/6/96 1 - 15 U
INTERLOCKS - SAFETY INTERLOCK
DOOR SWITCHES
Operator and service doors on Strasbaugh machines are equipped with
interlock safety switches. One or more open interlocks interrupt(s) the
auto cycle, inhibit the servos, or remove electrical power via the EMO
circuit.
The maintenance service door interlock switches and the Emergency
Off pushbuttons (EMO’s) are wired together in series. The EMO’s are
normally closed, and the interlock switches are wired as normally open.
Multiple EMO’s are installed on each machine, depending upon
customer requirements.
WARNING: Do not override safety interlocks. All procedures in
the Strasbaugh operation and maintenance
manuals are written to be performed with the door
interlocks closed while the machine is in motion.
Opening a service door at any time shuts power down to the
associated machine components and in some cases to the entire
machine, including the control computer. Recover by manually
clearing any leftover wafers, powering up and rehoming the machine.
Opening an operator door during an auto polish cycle interrupts
and suspends or terminates the cycle. Recover from an interrupted
auto cycle by manually clearing all leftover wafers and closing all doors,
permitting the cycle to resume. Recover from a terminated auto cycle
by manually clearing any leftover wafers and restarting the auto cycle.
