• Unstake the bearing locknut with a small chisel or drill.
• Remove the bearing locknut with the special tool.

• Remove the pinion gear assembly and shim out of the case.
• Remove the O-ring 1 from the pinion gear shaft.
• Remove the bearing from the shaft with a commercially avail-
able bearing puller or hydraulic press.
NOTE:
If there is no abnormal condition, the bearing removal is not nec-
essary.
The removed locknut must be replaced with a new
one.
The removed O-ring and bearing must be replaced
with the new ones.
