2. Orient the osci l l osc ope : Set the oscilloscope so the bottom i s down on the
work surface a nd the left side is facing you.
3. Remove the f ans: See Figure 6--21,on page 6--39.
a. Remove the four plastic fa st e ne r s that secure each of the fans to the
chassis. See Figur e 6--21.
NOTE. A wire cutte r can help you remove each fastener. First, use the cutter to
pry up and retract the faste ne r head. Then use it to remove the fastener body.
Be careful to only pry wit h the wire cut t e rs and NOT to cut!
b. L if t the fan cable up and out from the cable clamp.
NOTE. Needle-nose plie rs can serve as an eff e c t i v e tool to remove the cable
clamp if you use it to carefully squeeze the clamp’s top and bottom latches.
c. Disconne c t the fan cable from the PC i nt e r f a c e board. See Figure 6--22
on page 6--40.
d. L i f t the fan assembly up and out from the chassis.
4. Reinstallation: Do in rever se steps a through d to reinstall t he fan assembly.
CAUTION. Take care when handling the fans; the fan blades are brittle and can be
easily damaged.
