The oscilloscope has two level s of internal diagnostics that focus on verifying,
adjusting, and if need be, isolating faulty modules.
Both levels of internal dia gnost i c s report any bad modules. If a bad module is
found, replace the module.
The two level s of diagnostics are the short confidence set and the extended se t
that tests the oscilloscope circuitry in depth and take s more time. At power on,
the oscilloscope automatically executes the short set. The extended set i s optional
and is execute d by using the following procedure:
1. Display the Syst e m diagnostics menu:
a. From the menu bar, click Utilities and then select Instr ume nt Diagnos-
tics.
Firmware Updates
Firmware updates are easy to do. Simply install the firmware CD in your
oscilloscope and follow the displ a ye d instructions or the instructi ons that
accompany the CD.
If you want to order a firmware update, contact your Tektronix servic e center.
After Repair
After removal and replacement of a module due to electrical fail ure , you must
perform the c a l i br a t ion or software update as indicated i n Table 6--8.
