switchtotheSTARTpositionagain.
CircuitDescription
Theignition(key)switchhas3positions:OFF,ON/PREHEAT,andSTART.Theswitchislocatedonthecontrol
arm.TheTEC-5002monitorstheoperationoftheignitionswitch.
ConditionsforSettingtheFault
IftheignitionswitchisintheSTARTpositionandtheTEC-5002controllersensesthestartsignalisenergizedfor
morethan30seconds,thisfaultisreported.
Important:ThekeymayhavebeenintentionallyheldintheSTARTpositionformorethan30seconds
becausetheoperatorishavingtroublestartingtheengine.RefertotheStartingProblemstableinthe
ElectricalSystemchapterofthe5010-HServiceManual.
Note:After30secondsofenginecranking,theTEC-5002outputtothestartrelayisde-energizedevenifthe
ignitionswitchiskeptintheSTARTposition.Thispreventsoverheatingofthestartermotor.
RecommendedServiceActions
Step1:Verifythatthefaultrepeats.
1.ClearthesystemfaultsfromtheInfoCenter.RefertoClearingFaultsfromtheInfoCenter(page21).
2.Operatethemachine.
Pass
Thefaultdidnotrepeat.GotoReturningtheMachinetoService(page22)andfollowthestepslisted.
Note:Ifthefaultdoesnotrepeat,anisolatedeventhasoccurred.
Fail
Thefaultrepeated.GotoStep2.
Step2:Cycletheignitionswitch.
TurnthekeytotheOFFposition,andthenattempttostarttheengineagain.
Note:Donotallowthestartertospinformorethan30seconds.
