<esb> is the standard event register summary bit.
<mav> is ‘message available’ indicating that the output queue is non-empty.
<hsb> is ‘hardware status’ summary bit
<csb> is ‘coupling status’ summary bit
<ssb> is ‘instrument status’ summary bit
