Chapter 3 225

Distance To Fault
Mode
Stop Freq
Use this key to specify the Stop Frequency of your frequency range.
Start Distance
Use this key to specify the Start Distance of the cable you wish to measure.
The start distance you can enter cannot be greater than the distance displayed in the
Measured Distance window at the top right. If you need a larger distance, reduce the
frequency span by adjusting the start and stop frequencies.
If your Start Distance is 0 m (0 ft.), you will see a peak corresponding to 0 m (0 ft.). This is
caused by reflection from the junction between your analyzer and the cable under test.
This DC component, sometimes referred to as the “dead zone”, does not necessarily
indicate a problem, but be sure that this connection is tight and clean.
Stop Distance
Use this key to specify the Stop Distance of the cable you wish to measure.
The stop distance you can enter cannot be greater than the distance displayed in the
Mode Stimulus / Response
Dependencies /
Couplings
You cannot set the Start frequency equal to the Stop frequency.
The instrument will alter the value of the last setting to
maintain a minimum value of 1 kHz difference between the
Start and Stop frequencies.
Preset 1.99 GHz
State Saved Saved in instrument state.
Range From 10.001 MHz to 3.02 GHz (Option 503) / 6.02 GHz (Option
506)
