the measurement to logarithmic (video) averaging, or power (RMS) averaging. Trace
averaging is turned on by pressing
Trace/Detector, Average.
Log-Pwr Avg (Video) Sets the logarithmic (decibel) scale for all filtering and averaging
processes. This scale is also referred to as “Video” because it is the most common display
and analysis scale for the video signal within a spectrum analyzer.
Pwr Avg (RMS) Sets the signal power level (the square of the magnitude) as the scale for
the filtering and averaging processes. This scale is sometimes called RMS because the
resulting voltage is proportional to the square root of the mean of the square of the voltage.
Limit Masks
Access the Limit Masks submenu keys, enabling you to select to configure either Limit
Mask 1 (Upper) or Limit Mask 2 (Lower).

trace averaging is not available (grayed out). You must
change the detector (see
Trace/Detector, Detector) to access the
Log-Pwr Avg (Video) type of trace averaging.
