User manual Safety Directions
Precautions: Keep at a safe distance from electrical installations. Do not lift trolley
with GNSS pole mounted (or sole GNSS pole) further up than necessary to put the
trolley onto the track. If it is essential to work in this environment, first contact the safety
authorities responsible for the electrical installations and follow their instructions.
Because of the risk of electrocution, it is very dangerous to use the GRP on a track with
applied voltage on the conduction rail.
Precautions: Do not use the GRP System on a track equipped with a conduction rail,
as long a there is an applied voltage.
By surveying during a thunderstorm you are at risk from lightning.
Precautions: Do not carry out field surveys during thunderstorms.
The system weight of a GRP 1000/3000 is beyond 25 kg and for a GRP/IMS 5000 it
is beyond 50kg. Lifting these weights may lead to physical overstrain even for people
of normal physical fitness.
Precautions: According to your fitness, lift the GRP 1000/3000 system with two
persons respectively lift the GRP/IMS 5000 system with help of three persons. See
Section 11.11.2, “Weights per handle” on page 101
The system is technically designed for 24h/day use. Surveying/operation teams working
during too long shifts will increase the probability of accidents or bad measurement
results.
Precautions: Limit the working time per shift to a maximum of 8 hours for each team.
If required by labour law, the working time per shift must be adapted according local
law and even be reduced below 8 hours. The customer is responsible to comply with
local laws.
Be careful when pointing the product towards the sun, because the optional telescope
functions as a magnifying glass and can injure your eyes and/or cause damage inside
the product.
Precautions: Do not point the product directly at the sun.
The GRP system FX has been designed and tested for stability against overturning for
tracks of the following characteristics:
■
longitudinal slope up to 80 ‰ [ppt]
■
transversal slope (super elevation) up to 250 mm (on a standard gauge track of 1435
mm)
Precautions: Do not use the GRP System FX on a track with a longitudinal slope
beyond 80 ‰ [ppt] or with a super elevation beyond 250 mm (on a standard gauge
track of 1435 mm).
