5.3 High-speed laser scanner
The GRP/IMS 5000 surveys the track environment with high resolution using a high-speed
laser scanner. While scanning, the laser scanner is aligned exactly perpendicular to the track
in order to ensure precise measurement results. The perpendicular alignment is set depending
on the scanner type:
Amberg Profiler 5003 / Leica HDS 6000 / Z+F Imager 5006: During operation, the control
software Amberg Rail 3.0 aligns these 3D-scanners perpendicular to the track and locks the
horizontal axis perpendicular to the track.
Amberg Profiler 5033 / Z+F Imager 5010: Since the mechanics for holding a fix orientation
of this laser scanner model isn't strong enough, an additional adaptor must be mounted to
the device, which assures the perpendicular alignment.
Amberg Profiler 5002 / Amberg Profiler 6012 / Z+F Profiler 5006 / Z+F Profiler 9012:
These 2D scanners are installed using special adaptor plate, which ensures the correct
perpendicular alignment. Please note that only the Amberg Profiler 6012 or Z+F Profiler 9012
are compatible with IMS 5000.
