6.4 Check and adjustment of cant sensor
The track trolley TGS FX has an integrated cant sensor. It is advised to check the sensor before
every measurement session as follows:
Put the trolley on a level track.
Read the current value of the cant in the system software.
Rotate the trolley by 180°.
Read the cant value again.
Compute the resulting error as follows: (Reading 1+ Reading 2) / 2
Example:
Reading 1 +7.0 mm
Reading 2 -5.8 mm
Resulting error: (7.0 + [- 5.8] ) / 2 = 0.6mm
If the resulting error is more than you accept, the cant sensor must be adjusted.
6.4.1 Adjustment
Amberg Rail 3.0 is used for the adjustment of the cant sensor.
For further instructions please see the Amberg Rail 3.0 online help or manual.
Ensure a stable position, avoiding vibration or movement of the track trolley during cant
sensor checking and adjustment.
Execute the cant adjustment on a track with no or only little super elevation.
To check whether the adjustment was successful, proceed as described in Section 6.4, Check
and adjustment of cant sensor” on page 80.
6.5 Check and adjustment of gauge sensor
The gauge sensor is checked and adjusted before shipment.
During normal use, the gauge sensor should not require a daily check.
It is advised to check the gauge measurement from time to time, especially after:
A mechanical impact to the trolley.
A mechanical impact on the gauge measuring wheel.
Detection of wear of the gauge measuring wheel.
In order to adjust the gauge measuring device, install the trolley in a place with known
gauge. Subsequently, an adjustment can be done with Amberg Fidelity software. A gauge
inspection frame is part of the inspection set. Please contact your local Amberg Technologies
representative for further information.
