Chapter 1 Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the GRP System FX!
The GRP System FX will provide optimum support for track surveying and improve productivity.
Please carefully read this operation manual as well as those of the other components
of the GRP System FX before working with the product.
This manual contains important safety directions as well as instructions for assembling and
operating the product. Read carefully through these operating instructions before you start
working with the product (See Chapter 3, Safety Directions on page 31).
1.1 Symbols
The symbols used in this manual have the following meanings:
Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
will result in death or serious injury.
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation or an unintended use
which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury.
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation or an unintended use
which, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate injury and/or
appreciable material, financial and environmental damage.
Important paragraphs which must be adhered to in practice as they
enable the product to be used in a technically correct and efficient
manner.
1.2 How to use this manual
It is recommended to set up the product while reading through this manual.
The index is at the back of the manual.
Keys, fields and options on the screens which are considered as self-explanatory are
not explained.
This manual applies to all GRP instruments. Differences between the various models are
marked and described.
All available documents are listed in Section 1.7, “Available documentation” on page 17.
The entire documentation for the GRP System FX (software and hardware) is available in
electronic format. All manuals are also available in printed form.
1.3 Product identification
The serial number of your product is indicated on the type plate. Write down the serial number
in your manual and always refer to this information when you contact Amberg Technologies
or your local authorized service workshop. Depending on the system purchased (GRP 1000,
GRP 3000, GRP 5000, VMS 1000, VMS 3000, IMS Relative, IMS 1000, IMS 3000 or IMS 5000)
one or more of the articles listed below are delivered with the system:
