Chapter 7 Troubleshooting
The summary below lists some of the most common errors that have been observed during
operation of the components of the Profiler FX system.
In case a function does not perform as expected, or does not work at all, please also refer to
relevant sections of the measurement software manual and the manuals for the field calculator,
as appropriate.
For every malfunction, first check:
Cable connections Profiler FX - TGS FX
Power supply battery power (voltage)
Malfunction Possible cause / perform check
■
instrument cannot be switched on
■
battery cable not connected
■
battery voltage too low
■
battery fuse blown
■
no initialising motion on switching on
■
endless clockwise initialising movement
after switching on
■
switch off instrument, wait for 10 seconds,
■
switch on again
■
repeat 2-3 times if necessary
■
battery voltage too low
■
instrument switches off automatically on
attempting to switch on EDM (electronic
distance measurement) or to measure a
distance
■
battery voltage or power insufficient
■
EDM module does not come to a halt in
horizontal position after initialising motion.
■
measured profiles are recorded in a
rotated position
■
Profiler FX must be checked and adjusted.
Contact your local agency
■
no distance measurements are recorded
■
try to measure on another surface
■
error impossible to resolve
■
contact your local agency
