Segmentaon & Count
Watershed... - This segmentaon method is a mathemacal morphology segmentaon based on topological
theory. This is done by taking the gray value of each pixel to indicate the altude, and the boundaries of each
local minimum value, and its impact area. This can be visualized by thinking of a at plane with objects of vary-
ing height on it, and holes poked in the boom, then immersed in a liquid. The liquid lls starng at the lowest
point where a hole is, and lls up the basins between taller objects, where only the tallest show, like an island
in an ocean. It is best for simple background objects with a large contrast between the background and the
items of interest.
Approximaon - Assigns whether the segments will be esmated as circles, ellipses, or none (the actual shape
and size of the segment).
With Holes - This ck box enables the segmentaon method to create holes within a segment for areas that do
not t the segment.
Outline Style - Assigns whether the segments will be colored in, outlined, or none (simply numbered).
Outline Color - Assigns which color the segments or outlines will be colored in.
Label Method - Assigns how the segments will be labeled. XOR contrasts the numbers against the background,
true allows a color to be selected for all, and false eliminates numbering the secons enrely.
Label Color - When true is selected as the “Label Method,” will allow selecon of the color to use for the num-
bering.
Label Type - When true is selected as the “Label Method,” allows selecon between displaying counted seg-
ments, the area of each segment, or the perimeter of each segment.
