12.3.2 Configuring the ANS Range
Three types of ASL Ambient Noise Sensors (ANS) are available:
• “standard range” units with an operational range of 65dBA to 95dBA;
• “low range” units with an operational range of 55dBA to 85dBA;
• “selectable range” units with selectable operational ranges of either 65dBA to 95dBA or
55dBA to 85dBA.
The VAR Router must be set to the correct type of each ANS input, or else the ANS operation will be
incorrect.
In order to configure the ambient noise threshold range proceed as follows.
1. Select ConfigurationÆSystemÆRouterÆOutputs.
2. From V4.1.0470 or later, move to, and select the Configuration menu item.
[Configuration] Induction Loop
3. Scroll the output list and select the required output:
[O/P #1 - OUTPUT 01]
Default value: output 1
Outputs: 4 outputs for VAR4
12 outputs for VAR12
20 outputs for VAR20
Note: The output name is shown on the right side of the display. The output name above is the
output 1 default name, however this may have been changed according to each site’s
configuration.
Outputs 3, 4, 11, 12, 19, and 20 may have been configured as induction loop output, in which
case, please refer to Section “13 Induction Loop Configuration”.
4. Move to, and select the ANS menu item.
Level EQ [ANS] Surv Override Name
5. Move to, and select the Thresholds menu item.
Off [Thresholds] Attack 20
6. Move to, and toggle to the ambient noise range required to the ANS sensor:
[Range 65->95] Min ANS 80 Max ANS 90
Default value: ‘Range 65->95’ (High Range)
Possible values: ‘Range 65->95’ (High Range) and ‘Range 55->85’ (Low Range)
