16.4 Remote I/O Unit Digital Output Configuration
The digital outputs may be assigned as ‘Busy Outputs’. Each such output may be assigned to correspond to
the busy state of any VAR Router output or group of outputs. In the case of a group of outputs, it operates as
an OR function of the busy state of the outputs, i.e. if any of them are busy, the digital output is driven.
It is possible to configure which input, or group of inputs, will cause the ‘busy’ indication to be given on a
particular VAR Router output. In this way the ‘busy’ output may be driven conditional on which input source
is routed. This facility is useful for provide feedback of ALERT and EVACUATE DVA operation on a zonal
basis.
In order to configure a digital output for ‘busy indication’ proceed as follows.
1. Select ConfigurationÆSystemÆRouterÆControlÆRemote.
2. Move to scroll the Remote I/O unit list until the required unit is displayed:
[Remote I/O unit=n] Not Configured
Default value: ‘Remote I/O unit=1’
Possible I/O units: 1 to 3 for VAR4
1 to 6 for VAR12
1 to 9 for VAR20
3. Move to, and select the Digital Out menu item.
Analogue Digital In [Digital Out]
4. Move and scroll the digital output list until the required output is displayed in the left field:
[Output#nn] Not-Conf
Default value: ‘Output#01’
Possible Outputs: 12
5. Move to, and toggle to the required ‘busy’ indication option in the right field:
Output#nn [Not-Conf]
• Not-Conf
The digital output is not used.
• Busy Indication
The digital output is configured to correspond the ‘busy’ state of a VAR Router output or group of
outputs.
When this mode is selected, a sub-menu is displayed which allows the user to configure which
input, or group of inputs, will cause the ‘busy’ indication to be given on a particular VAR Router
output.
6. Pressing the SELECT key with ‘Busy indication’ option will display the next sub-menu, as described on
the following step.
Pressing the SELECT key with ‘Not-Conf’ option will save the changes, and return to the parent menu.
Pressing the BACK will cancel any changes, and return to the parent menu.
