Chapter 2. Eclipse Edge System Description
Compact size and low weight:
• Dimensions: 223x223x85mm.
• Weight: 2.6kg.
• Benefits include lower shipping and handling cost, easier installation and
maintenance, and reduced (visible) environmental impact in urban areas.
Environmental:
• ODUspe meets the ASTME standard for a 2000 hour salt-spray test, and relevant
IEC, UL, and Bellcore standards for wind-driven rain.
Interfaces:
There are three interfaces: antenna, IDU-ODU cable, and RSSI monitoring:
• The antenna connection for all bands, 7-38GHz, uses a direct antenna mount and
slip-fit waveguide interface (currently generic for Andrew antennas). See Figure
2-3. There is no remote-mount option for the ODUspe.
• PoE Ethernet ODU cable connector. The ODUspe is powered using a PoE compliant
weather-proofed cable. The maximum distance between the IDUspe and ODUspe is
100 meters.
• RSSI Monitoring Point. A capped BNC female connector is provided to monitor the
RSSI at the antenna during antenna alignment.

Controls and Features
• Broad frequency selection. Selection is by software control from Eclipse Portal, the
PC-based craft tool.
• Transmit and receive frequencies are independently set according to the desired
duplex frequency spacing, within the limits of the ODU configuration.
• Tuning ranges vary by frequency band but allow multiple frequency channels to
be selected within the same hardware option, thereby minimizing spares
requirements.
• ODUs are fixed for Tx High or Tx Low operation.
• Manual Tx power control. Up to 20dB of attenuation can be added manually under
software control in 0.1dB increments.
• Automatic Transmitter Power Control (ATPC). ATPC is a standard option and is
software configurable over the full transmit attenuation range in 1 dB steps.
