2.1 General Considerations
General safety instructions
• Before operating this equipment please read this manual thoroughly and retain it for future reference.
• All warnings on the projector and in the docum entation manuals shall be adhered to.
• All instructions for operating and use of this equipmen t shall be followed precisely.
• All local installation codes shall be adhered to.

provided below. Refer to them wh enever you c all upon your Barco dealer regarding this product.

• Use only the cables and cords supplied with the projector or or iginal replacem ent cables. U sing other cables or cords m ay lead
to malfunction and permane nt damage to the unit.
• Always use a g rounded (3–pronged) power cord to ensure proper grounding of the unit. Never us e 2-pronged power cords, as
this is dangerous and could lead to electrical shock.
• Do not attempt to open the projector unit. The projector contains no use r serviceable parts. Refer all repairs to qualified per-
sonnel only. Make sure that n o objects enter into the vents and openings
of the chassis.
• Do not s pill any liquids on the projector or into the vents or openings of the unit.
• Always remove the lens cap before switching on the projector. I f the lens cap is not removed, it may melt due to the high energy
light emitted through the lens. Melting the lens cap may perm anently damage the surface of the projection lens.
• Only p lace the projector on a stable sur face, or mount it s ecurely using an ap proved ceiling-mount.
• Always operate the pr ojector acco rding to the rotation guidelines. Operating the unit in other positions may reduce lamp life
significantly, and may lead to overheating, re sulting in malfunctioning
.
• Always allow am ple airflow through the pr ojector. Never block any of the air vents. Never cover the unit in a ny way while
running. Allow for sufficient dis tance to walls and c eilings to avoid ov erheating.
• Minimum safety (clearance) distance to the sides and rear of the unit is 50cm / 20” in any direction (15 cm/ 6” to ceiling).
• Hot air is exhausted from the rear vent. D o not place objects that are sensitive to heat nearer than 50c m / 20” to the exhaust
vent.
• The projector is designed for indoor use only. Never operate t
he unit outdoors.
• Do not op erate the projector outside its temperature and humidity s pecific ations, as t his may result in overheating and malfunc-
tioning.
• Only connect the projector to signal sources and voltages as described in the technica l specification. Connecting to unspecified
signal sources or voltages may lead to m alfunction and permanent damag e of t he unit.
• Wherever possible, use main pow er supply with surge protection to prevent damage to the projector caused by unscheduled
power surges.
• Allow lamp to cool down for at least 60 m inutes before changing. USE ONLY ORIGIN AL LAMPS .
• Connecting sources to a powered projector may result in product failure. It is recom mended that the power cable connector
(projector-end) or the mains power socket is accessible whilst the product is in use to enable mains power to be disconnected
or switched off when connecting source devices. This s hould be considered during product installation.
