2002 Buell S3T: Fuel System 4-91
HOME
OXYGEN SENSOR 4.31
GENERAL
The oxygen sensor (O2 Sensor), located in the header pipe,
monitors oxygen gas content in the exhaust and converts it to
a voltage reading. This voltage reading is used by the ECM to
maintain the proper air/fuel ratio during closed loop operation.
REMOVAL
1. See Figure 4-73. Unplug 1-place connector [137] under
battery tray.
2. Remove oxygen sensor from exhaust header using a 22
mm (or 7/8 in.) crow’s foot or flare nut socket.
INSTALLATION
1. Apply LOCTITE ANTI-SEIZE LUBRICANT to threads of
sensor. Make sure anti-seize is marked as safe for use
with O2 sensors.
2. See Figure 4-73. Thread sensor into exhaust header.
Tighten to 42-45 ft-lbs (57-61 Nm).
3. Connect 1-place connector [137] to wiring harness.
