Preparingforroadtransport
BeforetransportingthemachinewithRTCundercarriage,settheoveralltrackgaugetomatchtheactualwidthofthe
transporttrailer.RefertotheprocedureforretractingthesideframesincludedintothisChapter.
Removethebucketortheattachmentfromthearmtop.AlwaysrefertotheOperator'sManualoftheattachmentfor
properlyandsafelypreparetheattachmentforbeinghandledand,ifnecessary,transported.
BasingonthespecicproceduresdescribedintotheServiceManual,disassembletheCX490D/CX500Dintothe
followingmainmodules:
•
Basemachineincludingboomandarmcylinder.
•
Arm,includingthebucketcylinderandthebucketlinkage.
•
Counterweight.
Thecounterweightcanbeloweredtothegroundautomaticallyifthemachineisequippedwiththededicatedremoval
system.Refertopage9-49.
Thearmandthecounterweightshouldbehandledwithcranesandlifters.
NOTICE:Asgeneralprescription,makesurehandlethemainmodulesusingwireropes,slings,shackles,andother
liftingdevicesofpropercapacityinordertotackletheweightofeachmodule.Itisrecommendedtoconsider120%
ofthereferenceweightofeachmodulefortheselectionoftheliftingdevices.
Thebasemachineisself-moving,andcanthusgoonandoffatransporttrailer.Refertotheproceduresforloading,
tie-down,andunloadingofthebasemachinethatareincludedintothisChapter.
Thebasemachineshouldbefurtherpreparedbeforebeingloadedonthetrailerbyremovingthefollowingparts:
•
FOPSguard(ifequipped).
•
Vandalismguard(ifequipped).
•
Catwalks(ifequipped).
NOTICE:Allthepartsaboveshallbereadilyreinstalledonthebasemachineasthetransportoperationhasbeen
completed.StrictlyfollowtheinstallationproceduresdescribedintotheServiceManual.
