Why is the exhaust gas from the engine of my Case Excavators black or deep gray?
    • M
      Michelle JohnsonAug 12, 2025
If the exhaust gas from the engine of your Case Excavator is black or deep gray, it could be due to several reasons. You might be using the wrong fuel, so replace it with the correct fuel. The air cleaner might be clogged, causing poor suction, so clean or replace the air cleaner. Also, incorrect valve clearance can cause this issue, so adjust it.

    • K
      Kathleen BlackAug 30, 2025
If the exhaust gas from the engine of your Case Excavator is white or blue, it could be due to excess oil, so give an overhaul or replace components. Very low oil viscosity can also cause this, so replace it with oil of the correct viscosity. Overcooling by the radiator may be the cause, so adjust it.

What to do if the engine of my Case CX490D Excavators does not start?
    • T
      Trevor ThompsonNov 5, 2025
If the engine of your Case Excavator doesn't start, there could be several reasons. It might be due to a defect in the starter switch, so check the starter switch. Other potential causes include a discharged battery, a defect in the starter, or dirt or looseness of connectors affecting the starter's performance. In this case make sure that battery is charged and connectors are clean. Also, there might be no fuel or inadequate urea solution in the tanks, so add fuel or urea solution if needed. The battery disconnect switch may be OFF, so set it to ON. The fuel filter might be clogged, so clean or replace it. Other possible causes are poor viscosity of engine oil (inspect and replace if necessary), poor air bleeding for the fuel system (bleed it completely), or a cold engine (preheat suction...
