42 Install the Printer
Printer Sharing Requirements
Before sharing a printer over a network, the following requirements must be met:
• Each PC that will use the printer must have a
working network card installed.
• Operating systems and combinations supported:
• Windows 7, 64-bit Host PC
• Windows 7, 64-bit Client PCs.
• Windows
XP, 32-bit Host
PC
• Windows XP, 32-bit Client PCs.
• Windows Server 2003 R2, 32-bit Host PC
• Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, 32-bit Client PCs
• Windows Server 2008 R2, 64-bit Host PC
• Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, 64-bit Client PCs
• The Host and the Client PC must be
using t
he same type of processor, either
32 or 64-bit.
• The Host
PC must be config
ured and enabled for sharing.
• The Host PC must remain on, with the Windows operating system running.
• The Host PC must grant per
missions for users that will print to the shared
printer.
