Installation Requirements and Guidelines
Thischapterdescribesthefollowing:
Site Guidelines
YoumustfollowtheguidelineslistedbelowwhenasiteisselectedfortheK6chassis.Ifyoudonot
followtheguidelines,unsatisfactorynetworkperformancemayresult.
•ToinstalltheK6chassisas afreestandingunitonashelvingunit,theshelfmustbeableto
support113.4kilograms(250
pounds)ofstaticweight.
•IfyouaremidmountingtheK6chassis,youmustbolttheracktothefloororensurethatthe
rackissupportedinsuchawaythatthemidmountedK6chassisdoesnotcreateatipping
hazard.
•ToinstalltheK6chassisas arack
mountedunit,caremustbetakentoensurethattherack
usedwillsupporttheunitandthattherackremainsstable.
•Toallowproperairflowandcoolingwithintherack,ensurethefollowing:
–Ifmultipleproductsareinstalledintherack,therackmustcontainproductswithsimilar
air
flow.
–Theremustbe5.08centimeters(2 inches)ofclearancebehindtheK6chassisandoneither
sideoftheK6chassis.
•IfyouareinstallingaK6chassisatthebottomofanenclosedrack,leaveatleast5.08
centimeters(2 inches)betweentheflooroftherackandtheK6chassis
toensureproperair
flowandcooling;otherwise,youriskthemodulesoverheating.
