Calibrate AC and DC Voltage (5322A/VLC only)
Use the Product voltage calibration function to calibrate the voltmeter function on
portable appliance, insulation, and installation testers.
XW Warning
To avoid electric shock, do not touch the terminals or test leads
while performing voltage calibrations. Voltages up to 600 V are
present on the OUTPUT HI and LO terminals.
To perform an ac or dc voltage calibration:
1. Refer to Figures 52, 53, and 54 to connect the DUT to the Product OUTPUT
V HI and LO terminals.
2. Push .
3. Push the AC/DC softkey to select either ac or dc.
4. Push the Sync softkey to select synchronization of ac voltage to mains
frequency - either On or Off. Most DUTs will show quieter readings with Sync
On.
5. Set the DUT to measure voltage.
6. Set the voltage and frequency for ac voltage on the Product to the desired
value.
7. Set the output grounding to the desired setting through the Setup and
Product softkeys.
8. Push .
The Product outputs the set voltage and measures the current flowing
between the Product and DUT. If the Product exceeds its maximum current
rating, an error message displays and then disconnects the output terminals
from the DUT.
9. If necessary, adjust the voltage setting on the Product to get the desired
reading on the DUT.
Note
The settling time after making a voltage change while in operate
mode depends on the voltage and frequency setting. Under worst
conditions, the maximum settling time is approximately 3 seconds.
