Multifunction Electrical Tester Calibrator
Use the Loop and Line Impedance Function
47
Set the Manual Residual Impedance Correction Value
To manually enter the residual impedance correction value:
1. Push the Setup softkey.
2. Select either Loop Impedance or Line Impedance.
3. Using the cursor keys or rotary knob, highlight Line imp. MAN value (or
Loop imp. MAN value for Loop impedance function) and either push the
Select softkey or push in the rotary knob.
4. Using the keypad, cursor keys and/or rotary knob, enter the desired residual
impedance correction value.
5. After confirming the correct value is in the display, push the Write softkey to
enter the correction value into the calibration. To exit without changing the
value, push the Exit softkey.
6. Push the Exit softkey repeatedly to return to the main screen.
Note
The maximum residual impedance correction value that can be
entered manually is between 0 and 10
Ω
.
To use this manually entered value, you must select the manual residual
impedance compensation mode as described in the Select the Residual
Impedance Correction Mode section earlier. When the Residual Impedance
Correction mode is set to MANUAL, the stored manual value entered in this
section is added to the selected loop or line impedance value and their sum
displayed as the calibration value.
Set the Scanned Residual Impedance Correction Value
The Product has a built-in circuit for measuring the actual residual impedance.
The SCAN function provides a residual impedance value that not only includes
the power line socket, but the power line cord impedance, the contact resistance,
and some of the interconnection inside the Product. The lowest residual line or
loop impedance is limited by the Product measured residual line or loop
impedance. The measured residual impedance is added to the selected resistor
value.
Note
The Residual Line or Loop impedance value can be refreshed at any
time with the RESCAN softkey. The next Rescan operation is
blocked for 60 seconds after the last launch. The Label of the
RESCAN softkey changes color from white to gray and the time
remaining to the next available application is shown above the label.
If the loop or line residual impedance exceeds 10
Ω
, an error
message is displayed and the scan mode is turned off.
To SCAN for a residual impedance correction value, push the RESCAN softkey,
available in both the Loop and Line Impedance modes. The Product measures
the residual impedance of the mains circuitry to perform the SCAN. Since a
SCAN heats up internal circuitry, the RESCAN function is disabled with a
countdown timer for 60 s after a SCAN.
